1. NordLayer Plans by VeritGuard Tier
Your NordLayer plan is determined by your VeritGuard subscription tier:

2. Activating Your Account
- You will receive an email from NordLayer with the subject "You've been invited to join NordLayer" or "Welcome to NordLayer."
- Open the email and click "Get Started" or "Activate Account."
- You will be redirected to the NordLayer portal. Enter your name, work email, and create a password.
- If your firm uses SSO (Google or Microsoft sign-in), you can log in via the SSO button instead.
3. Installing the App
Desktop (Windows / Mac)
- Go to nordlayer.com/download
- Download the installer for your operating system.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Mobile (iOS / Android)
- Search for "NordLayer" in the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Install the app and sign in with your work credentials.
4. How to Connect
- Open the NordLayer app.
- Sign in with your work email and password (or SSO if enabled).
- You will see a list of available gateway locations. Select "United States" or "Nearest" (auto-select) for the best performance.
- Click "Connect."
- Once connected, the app will show a "Connected" or "Protected" status. Your internet traffic is now encrypted.

- Auto-launch on startup: Ensures NordLayer opens automatically when you turn on your computer, so you don't forget to connect.
- Auto-connect on insecure networks: Automatically connects the VPN when your device joins a network it doesn't recognize, such as a hotel or coffee shop Wi-Fi.
- Kill Switch: If the VPN connection drops unexpectedly, Kill Switch immediately blocks all internet traffic until the connection is restored. This prevents your data from being sent unencrypted even for a moment.
7. Troubleshooting: NordLayer Won't Connect
If the VPN is not connecting, try these steps in order before contacting support:
- Close and reopen the NordLayer app. A simple restart often resolves temporary connection issues.
- Restart your Wi-Fi. Turn Wi-Fi off on your device, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on. Then try connecting again.
- Try a different gateway. If "Nearest" is not working, manually select "United States" or another available gateway from the list.
- Check your internet connection. Open a browser and try loading a website without the VPN. If the internet itself is down, the VPN cannot connect.
- Check for firewall or antivirus conflicts. Some corporate firewalls or third-party antivirus tools may block VPN connections. If you are on a network controlled by someone else (e.g., a client's office), their firewall may be the issue.
- Restart your computer. This clears any network configuration issues that may be interfering.

You may notice a very slight decrease in speed because your traffic is being routed through an encrypted tunnel. In practice, the difference is minimal and should not affect normal work activities like email, web browsing, or cloud application use.
Q: Can I use NordLayer on my phone?
Yes. The NordLayer app is available for iOS and Android. If you access work email or firm applications from your phone, we recommend connecting to NordLayer first, especially on public networks.
Q: Do I need the VPN if I only work from my office?

Q: I'm traveling internationally. Anything I should know?
Yes. Always use NordLayer when traveling abroad. Some countries restrict VPN usage, so if you experience connection issues, try a different gateway. Also, please notify Verito Support before you travel - logging in from unusual foreign IP addresses may trigger security alerts on your cloud accounts.
Q: Can I use my personal VPN instead of NordLayer?
No. NordLayer is your firm's designated business VPN, managed and monitored by Verito. Personal VPN services (like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, etc.) are consumer products and do not provide the same organizational controls, audit logging, or gateway management that NordLayer offers for compliance purposes.
